Sun Air
International Airlines is now providing scheduled Part 135 flights into Cuba,
to the Bahamas and Florida and just like before when we were Gulfstream
Training Academy which started over 18 years ago we are now Sun Air Academy
that offers Professional flight training through the Airline (Sun Air) and a
time building program.
We have 7 Chieftains Navajos (and about to add another one), they are all
multi-engine piston planes. We are about to get another one as we speak. Just
like the previous program our classes will start the second Monday of each
month. It is a rigorous program but if you come in with the requirements we ask
for and ready to work hard you will be successful. You need your basic ratings,
Private, Instrument, Commercial and Multi-engine ratings. Minimum 200hrs (we
have pilots coming into our program with as little as 200hrs to well over
1,000hrs from 18 years old to well over 50), No more than 2 failures ( we would
prefer zero ), a valid US Passport, an FCC Radio License and a 1st class medical.
You would come in the first week and take a written test and a sim check.
Basically an IFR check just to make sure you are instrument proficient.
Once class starts you will be in ground school and then go through the
simulator training. This will take about 6-8 weeks and once you have been
checked out you start flying the 200hrs on our 135 Airline flying into Cuba, the Bahamas and Florida.
This is basically the same program and same management we had at the previous
Academy.
We are already planning to open more routes out of Miami
in the next few months so things are happening fast. Just like the industry, as
I have mentioned, this industry is about to get hit hard with the pilot
shortage This is the only program of its kind. We are an option. You can build
hours as an instructor but we believe, and so do the airlines that hire our
pilots, that if you are going to time build you need Quality hours and
experience as a professional airline pilot.
We are located in the same facility as before here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We do offer
housing, you will figure to spend about $500-$800 month. Once you have
completed the hours you have the opportunity to be hired by the regionalīs that
are hiring as we speak. American Eagle is hiring at 500 total hours right now.
Now ask yourself who do you think will get hired first? Someone with Airline
training and International Airline experience or just experience as an
instructor or someone flying around in a twin piston or jet or turbo-prop plane
pretending to be an Airline?
The price for the course is $17,000 however since we are starting to get into
the fall season we are offering a special price for November and December of
$15,000. Basically thatīs about $75 per hour for multi-engine/scheduled Part
135 Training and International experience. We can only take 4-6 each month but
once we open up the new routes out of Miami
we will go up to 6-8. If there ever was a time to be an Airline Pilot it is now.
