Flying has been a great
ambition for the Turkish nation since the day Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi flew across
the Bosphorus Strait in 17th century. The dream of
flying turned into reality when our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk took a
major step forward by founding Turkish Aeronautics Association (TAA).
On February 16, 1925, by the directive of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkish
Airplane Society (Türk Tayyare Cemiyeti) was founded, paving the way of
realization of Turkish nations great ambition for the sky.
The proposal, related to the
foundation of University
of Turkish Aeronautics Association,
was accepted in the General Meeting of Higher Education Council in January 20,
2011 and sent to the Ministry of National Education.
With its great experience in the fields of aeronautics, TAA started
preparations for the establishment of University of Turkish
Aeronautics Association in 2010 with the aim of
moving its experience and educational infrastructure to an academic level.
After analyzing aeronautical associations in Turkey
and around the world, a team headed by the president of TAA prepared a detailed
feasibility report which led to the application to the Council for Higher
Education for founding the first university specialized in aeronautics in Turkey.
The proposal, related to the foundation of University of Turkish
Aeronautics Association, was accepted in the
General Meeting of Higher Education Council in January 20, 2011 and sent to the
Ministry of National Education.
