Quincy University, in partnership with Great River Aviation, LLC, offers students a full-service aviation learning center. The flight labs are located at Quincy Regional Airport which is located about 10 miles from Quincy University. Quincy Regional Airport is an excellent flight training location with three, paved runaways (7100’, 6000’ and 5400’), low-traffic airspace as well as extensive accommodations for instrument flight approaches.

Flight instruction offered on-site at Great River Aviation, LLC not only give students high quality & individualized training in a variety of different aircraft but also frequent opportunities to interact with corporate and commercial pilots who use the same Fixed Base Operation (FBO) facilities. The collaboration with Great River also affords QU’s Aviation students a number of different internship opportunities as well.

Quincy University’s Aviation (AVI) program is an FAA 141-approved course of study which provides the AVI student the opportunity to obtain Private, Instrument, Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor ratings. The aviation student may also select to obtain their Multi-engine and Multi-engine Instructor ratings. As an AVI student, you will study, in-depth, the challenging and exciting world of Aviation and Aviation Management.

•Low student-to-instructor ratio allows for more personal attention, increasing the amount interaction and reinforcement. Our low student-to-aircraft ratio also allows a student to fly with far greater frequency – almost whenever they please – WEATHER PERMITTING!!

•FAA licensed mechanics ensure that all Quincy University’s aircraft are maintained to the strict FAA standards of safety. This ensures that all of our aircraft are performing at the highest aspect and safety at all times.

•The Quincy University aviation program has a brand new Personal Computer Aided Training Device (PCATD) which allows students to fly in the simulator on the bad weather days to help them progress their skills of instrument flying.

•All written, oral, and flying tests are completed at Great River Aviation, with FAA licensed testing computers and a FAA “Designated Examiner” on staff. Thus, our students are able to get immediate feedback on their test performance. This aspect ensures the greatest convenience for the students, keeping them from having to travel to other places to take their tests.

•The Quincy Regional Airport has all the navigational aids, and instrument approaches on the field to allow students to have the best training for their aviation career.

•Quincy University’s Aviation program offers instruction in multiple aircraft, providing students training in the latest aircraft technology as well as with auto-pilot and complex GPS systems.

•While at Quincy University AVI students will see and experience both corporate and commercial operations first hand.

•When a graduate of Quincy University’s Aviation Program walks away with their degree, they will have the knowledge that they have completed one of the most thorough private through flight instructor training programs, with a multi-engine option.
